Lobstering in Key West
Catch your dinner — the Florida Keys way.
Lobster season in the Keys is a tradition — not easy but it is fun. There’s not much like jumping in the water and catching your own dinner with a cooler waiting on deck.
At Wet Dream Charters, we offer lobster trips aswell as an add-on to your spearfishing trips during the regular lobster season (Aug 6 – Mar 31). Whether you’re a seasoned diver or brand new to the hunt, we’ll guide you through the process and take you to our favorite lobster spots around Key West.

When’s Lobster Season?
-
Mini Season: Last Wed & Thurs in July (2-day sport season, high demand)
-
Regular Season: August 6 – March 31
We operate regular season trips only, with less pressure and more flexibility for a laid-back, high-reward experience.
Lobstering Like a Local - What to Expect
-
We’ll hit shallow patch reefs, ledges, or coral heads where lobsters like to hide.
-
You’ll be in the water snorkeling — no tanks required.
-
We’ll supply the gear: snorkel mask, gloves, net, tickle stick, measuring gauge.
-
Captain Ben will walk you through how to spot, approach, and safely bag lobsters using proper technique.
-
You must measure each one: carapace must be 3 inches or larger — no undersized bugs allowed.
-
Once you’re back on board, we’ll ice down the catch and keep going. Want to combine it with a sandbar stop or reef dive? Just let us know.
